    Thanks for sharing!! Would this work with nickel silver alloy?

    • @BillRitchie
      @BillRitchie 3 місяці тому

      No, I do not think so because nickel silver, while it may accept the laser toner image, requires a strong etchant. I don't think ferric chloride will etch it. Nitric acid in some solution might, but I have no experience in etching nickel silver or any alloy like it.

I copied it, but I didn't take time to format it, but here it is for your audience to read: we use copper cups right now is because it's considered the copper age it's soon to be the silver age and then we'll use silver cups but our ancestors used copper to hold water in the house overnight so that it would not grow mold or germs and would be safe to drink because copper has antibiotic properties okay the first thing you do when you're busting the water besides obtaining some water i feel like we should all have water okay it is water is very important water is important to grandmother moon grandmother moon has no water but grandmother moon causes the tithes and olives as well as the tithes in the ocean and those tides have emotional significance the first thing you do when you bless the water is you raise the water three times and asked as to the blessing of the great spirit or the universe and then put a little bit of water into the earth because the earth has given us the water and you offer the water to the north and to the east into the south and to the west and then you offer the water to the participants which i didn't bring paper cuts so you're out of it sorry um i'm just going to stand on the table.

      @BillRitchie 7 місяців тому

      Hi again, no, unfortunately, we don't. Incidentally, two or three went to Australia. I have two finished ones, the're US$900 each. Incidentally, I am writing my autobiography, and it was a woman from New Zealand who suggested I make mini halfwood presses for sale! She was leaving the next day, however, and it was months before we started making them for sale. I have one of the early originals the owner brought back for me to sell - she is a jeweler and never had time to get into printmaking. It's never been used! I'm thinking of turning the design over to a big US etching press company to bring it back to life, but in a "green" form, less impactful on the environment, I think and good for home school. So many ideas, so little time!

    Yes Bill primary education always used nursery rhymes and you are there again. Print does matter. The Diamond Sutra the oldest surviving printed book in the world. Made in 868 AD. The Bible also when it was printed revolutionised literacy education and learning. With that Biblical text came the numerous engravings which reached people . A visual communication that today returns and almost eclipses the printed word.

    This is so heartwarming. Kids are wonderful, and they remain in my memory, too. I remember fondly the times I went to assist at an elementary school, to help some children read better. It was neat learning the technique of teaching. If they struggled a little bit, or was slow to read, I wasn't to jump in immediately, but to let them work it out, sound it out for themselves. This helps them to advance on their own. It was fun being positive and encouraging in their reading endeavors. I hope you sent them a link to this video so they could watch. Anyhow, it's great your wife (I'm assuming) was able to record this memory and interaction with them. So neat to see their excitement when they saw the work they put into it become a print. It's great you let them pull the print out by themselves instead of taking it out and giving it to them.

      @@BillRitchie Oh, great that you're able to stay in contact with them. And, aww. I'm sorry to hear they lost both their parents, and at such a young age, too! :((( That is rough. :( If they should happen to see this comment, my condolences. <3

    Moments of reflection are always nice. May I ask, how fast did the 60 years go by for you? Some say it goes by so fast. Others don't look at time that way, like a gentleman that I speak with. For me, it seems to go by so fast.

      When I read "Magic Mountain," I learned that when lives an unchanging, routine existence (as the character in the story was in a sanitorium to recover from TB, and every day was like every other day) then time flies by. One refers to years as if they were only months! For me, time goes slowly - months seem like years! Sometimes I need my computer's files to ascertain that, yes, it was 2013 when we did our Emerald Star day cruise! ua-cam.com/video/bhLxRy-ulkk/v-deo.html Really? Ten years sounds like a long time, but it feels like months ago. Variety in life is like sand in the clockworks, it slows time down. Thanks for the question! This is fun.

      @@BillRitchie Aww. Thank you, Mr. Ritchie, for answering this question for me. You are right, and what you said makes sense. If our life is the same, and not filled with activity, and is mundane, I can see how those days meld into one another and it all feels the same. But with adventure, learning and experiencing new things, it would feel better, and time slows because you're in the moment. Thank you for sharing with me the lessons you learned regarding this. And I got a chance to watch that video. It was wonderful and heartwarming.
